“Am I a Maker?” We get this question a lot and it’s usually followed by a cool project description, with some caveats:
“Well, it’s not electronic.”
“It’s very technical, I don’t think people will understand.”
“It’s just a fun thing I do with my kids, I’m not sure if it’s worth exhibiting.“
Does this sound like you? Great, you’re in the right place! Let’s talk about some of those concerns:
“Well, it’s not electronic.” – Some of Maker Faire’s best exhibitors have no electronic equipment. Woodworking, crafting, building, designing, and other maker exhibits are big attractions for adults and kids alike. So bring it on!
“It’s very technical, I don’t think people will understand.” – That’s what YOU are there for! Fearful that you’ve never taught or explained your creation to other human beings? That’s the point. Your participation ensures that attendees and you will have a one-of-a-kind learning experience.
“It’s just a fun thing I do with my kids, I’m not sure if it’s worth exhibiting.” – If your children are fascinated and are having fun with your project, that’s validation that you’re just the type of Maker we’re looking for!
